The fifth West End Beer Fest takes place in Glasgow this Friday 5th and Saturday 6th July.

Once again, Hillhead Sports Club in Hyndland will host the event.

Visitors are promised 'live music, DJs, a gin bar, food and the best craft beer in Scotland'.

The breweries showing include Overtone, BrewDog Overworks and the Acid Brewing Cartel. If you are not the world's biggest beer fan then the tipples sold by the Garden Shed Drinks Company may be more your thing.

As well as DJ sets from Let's Get Eclectic, there will be performances by Alan Ned Gray and FarrowHawk.

Tickets are £8 and there are three sessions to choose from: Friday and Saturday, 6pm to 11.30pm, and a family-friendly, noon to 5pm session on Saturday afternoon.

Tarbert Seafood Festival

And if you have the energy to venture further afield, the Tarbert Seafood Festival takes place Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June.

The village's picturesque harbour provides the backdrop to most of the fun.

A two-day celebration of the fish and shellfish from the crystal-clear waters of Loch Fyne, the festival features cookery demonstrations, tastings and, of course, the chance to buy some of the amazing produce from local suppliers' stalls lining the harbour.

Saturday will also see the crowning of the Seafood Festival Queen and her princesses.

The Queen will traverse the harbour by fishing boat and from there she leads the festival parade through the village.

Everyone is welcome to join the parade; some people spend months working on their costumes.

Sunday afternoon is all about the music and a couple of cheeky swallies with the Beer on the Pier event.

The quay will be the scene for an open air party with several fab bands giving it laldy in, hopefully, the summer sunshine.
