Glasgow Chef Nico Simeone is launching a ten-course tasting menu at 111 by Nico, his original restaurant in Kelvinside.

The Cleveden Road restaurant launched in 2015 but, in recent years, more attention has perhaps been focused on the chef's Six by Nico branded restaurants.

Launched in Finnieston in 2017, there are now four Six by Nico restaurants with branches in Edinburgh, Belfast and Manchester.

The Six by Nico restaurants introduce a new themed menu every six weeks. Themes have included Route 66, Paris and Thai street food.

At 111 by Nico, the ten-course menu will be available every Friday and Saturday from Friday 6th September 2019. It is priced at £40 per person with a matching wine flight priced at £35.

The chef commented, 'At 111 by Nico it has always been important for us to offer an affordable dining experience without compromising on taste or portion size and the new ten-course tasting menu will take it one step further and showcase some extra special food for guests to enjoy every Friday and Saturday.

Push boundaries

'We want to constantly push boundaries with our food concepts and we believe 111 by Nico is like a fine wine – it gets better with age. This new ten course menu is a perfect showcase for our chefs' creations and of course, the challenge now is that we have to deliver for our guests.'

Dishes on the ten-course menu include potato terrine with a black garlic emulsion and ewes cheese; sole with orange, braised fennel and a shellfish bisque (pictured) plus lamb flank with tomato compote, olive, ricotta and an artichoke barigole.

Mediterranean heritage

Born in Glasgow, to Italian parents, Nico was raised in a family of Mediterranean foodies. His earliest memories are of his mother’s Italian cooking and large family meals around the table.

His career has included stints at Michelin starred Number One at The Balmoral, where he worked with Craig Sandle and was awarded 'Young Scottish Seafood Chef of the Year' award.
