All being well, Monteiths will launch at 3 Helena Place, Busby Road, on Wednesday 11th September.

Several months in development, it is the brainchild of the team that runs Loks Bar and Kitchen on the Southside.

Open from 11am to 11pm every day, Monteiths serves everything from brunch and lunch to gourmet pub dishes and, of course, a Sunday roast. Main pic is from Monteiths' Facebook.

The bistro looks on to the open kitchen but if the sight of chefs at work doesn't do it for you then the full length windows provide other distractions.

In the bar area, multiple TVs mean that you need never miss a moment of whatever sporting event is taking place.

Returning to the food front, there are extensive day and night menus. Many of the dishes are tried and tested old faves.

Sometimes all you want is a soothing bowl of Cullen skink; fish and chips or a juicy burger.

Haggis spring rolls

Some of the other options are rather more adventurous.

Haggis spring rolls with a curried apple sauce are a new one to us as are pizza fries. The latter is fries with any pizza topping.

As well as lunchtime sandwiches, there is a selection of pizza and plenty of choices for kids.

Of course the menu is clearly labelled for allergens and there are lots of veggie and vegan options.

Sunday roast

The Sunday roast is a twelve-hour, slow cooked beef sirloin with all the trimmings. The veggie version comprises a herb and garlic roast celeriac with all the trimmings.

Puddings range from the dainty - try the lemongrass and coconut panna cotta - to more substantial options like the sticky date and toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.

With a fab 4.3/5 score, Loks is a big hit with 5pm customers and we suspect that Monteiths will do just as well in Clarkston.
