Sweet Recreation bar has opened for business in the Shawlands premises recently vacated by the short-lived Mr Wu's Disco Kitchen.

The grub - a finger-licking combo of burgers, wings and fries - comes courtesy of Meatstack who also provide the scran in places like Salt Horse in Edinburgh and Newcastle's Dog and Parrot.

Sweet Recreation have a nice list of draught beers as well as a selection of bottled beers which includes Oude Geuze Boon.

Geordie Jenna is banging out the cocktails.

Your blogger has eaten Meatstack burgers before and can give a hearty shout out for the Korean BBQ burger, the crispy buttermilk chicken version and the West Coast Classic.

The beef dripping fries are boss and, TBH, we're pretty partial to their buffalo chicken wings.

Tofu Asian Fusion

Shuffling up to the West End, we note that Tofu Asian Fusion is serving on Dumbarton Road in the former Ichiban premises.

And tofu is deffo not the only thing on the menu.

From chicken katsu curry and Singapore noodles to beef in black bean sauce and nasi goreng, they have an appetising range of much loved pan-Asian options.

The lunch menu starts at £8.50 for one course while a two course set dinner is £12.90. The student bento box is £6.50 and, of course, there is always the à la carte menu.

It's a minimalist, canteen style place rather than a super plush restaurant and sometimes that's all you want.

The main pic above is from Tofu Asian Fusion's Facebook.

The Dapper Mongoose

Last but not least, we'll make a quick mention of Stack and Still plus The Dapper Mongoose.

Stack and Still, the 'urban pancake' place, have just launched their third branch. This one is in Glasgow Fort.

Back on Kilmarnock Road, Belle and Felix has gone off to the great restaurant cemetery in the sky but The Dapper Mongoose is taking shape in its place.

We don't have an opening date as of yet but the fashion conscious herpestidae promises, 'High quality fresh produce, sharing plates, great wines, premium spirits and friendly service'.

We look forward to it.
