5pm has teamed up with Action For Children to raise money for Scotland’s most vulnerable young people. You can help out by eating out.

From today to Sunday 20th October, book selected offers at restaurants across Glasgow and 5pm will donate 100% of our profits from your booking to Action for Children’s Moving On project.

Action For Children is a charity which protects and supports the UK’s most vulnerable children and young people.

Their work aims to ensure more children have the best start in life, good mental health, and safe and loving homes.

Action for Children’s Moving On project turns the lives around of young men who’ve been in Polmont Young Offenders institution.

It aims to reduce the risk of them reoffending. Over 80% of the young men taking part in the project don’t return to prison.

Yes Chef!

Part of the project includes Yes Chef!, a programme that trains six young men with cooking skills. It also gives the would-be-chefs work experience in top catering facilities including the Tennent’s Training Academy and restaurants like The Finnieston.

Young men who’ve previously taken part in the project have gone on to work in restaurants throughout Glasgow. The project makes a massive long-term difference to the lives of the men taking part.

The training culminates on Thursday 14th November with a fun-filled, fund-raising event at Glasgow’s Platform at Argyle Street Arches.

Global street food

On the night, the boys will show off their training and cook street food for each guest. The event will be hosted by comedian Gary Faulds and there will also be amazing cocktails, live music and street performers within Glasgow’s most vibrant foodie destination.

5pm is selling tickets to Yes Chef!

The tickets include an arrival drink (Felons gin cocktail or Tennent’s bottled beer), a paired cocktail, plus global street food such as Korean-fried chicken bao buns, spiced crab cake and chicken makhani.

Of course, you can also support Action For Children by making a donation.
