In Edinburgh, House of Gods boutique hotel has opened on the Cowgate and it features a fantoosh cocktail bar.

The hotel rooms are said to take design cues from the Orient Express and Versailles while Lilith's Lounge Bar is named after a female demon.

All design tropes that seldom crop up on Grand Designs.

The bar certainly looks suitably plush and the bar menu is decorated with a pic of Grace Jones in her undercrackers.

The actual cocktails are just as decadent with a number of them named after famous incidents of rock 'n' roll misbehaviour.

These include the Champagne Supernova, the Rock 'n' Rose and Shakin' Steven's Last Valentine.

OK, we're jesting about the Shakey cocktail but you get the picture.

The Prancing Stag

Meanwhile, in Glasgow's Jordanhill, The Prancing Stag is open for business. The Crow Road business is in the premises that formerly housed a branch of The Sisters restaurants.

The new venture is also family-owned and run. The kitchen likes to use fresh, seasonal and local produce to create Scottish dishes.

Typical main courses might be the pan-fried fillet of hake with creamed potato, greens, mussel, tomato, pea, endive and fish cream or the Perthshire lamb rump which is served with a braised lamb croquette, artichoke purée, roast shallot and red wine jus. The main pic, taken from the restaurant Facebook, shows their crispy hen’s egg with Stornaway black pudding.

There are lots of veggie options and a separate vegan menu.

The sitootery - an outdoor seating area - is ideal for a drink and nibbles on a sunny day.

Vietnam in the Southside

We also understand that the former pop-up Little Hoi An has found permanent premises in the Southside.

More news - including an actual address - on this tasty Vietnamese restaurant as we get it.

As long as you are in Glasgow.
