Need to brighten up your January? The 5pm January Sale means you can enjoy your favourite restaurants in Glasgow and Edinburgh without breaking the bank.

You can browse the Glasgow offers here and the Edinburgh offers here.

Some offers two courses for £12, others offer three courses and some will even throw in a drink.

These caught our eye.

At Pie and Brew in Glasgow, £12 will buy a pie sharing board with neeps and gravy on the side for two people. Situated under Abode on Bath Street, this cosy, basement bar specialises in gorgeous pies with fillings such as pulled pork, cider and apple; veggie haggis beetroot or smoked haddock and spinach. Main pic is from Pie and Brew.

At Tuk Tuk on Sauchiehall Street, you can enjoy a tiffin set lunch comprising one selected roadside plate and two street curries with any rice or naan of your choice for £12. Bombay chilli chicken, please!

La Rotunda on Tunnel Street will sort you out with two courses from the set menu and a glass of wine for £12 per person.

We can't see past the haggis bon bons followed by the chef's own lasagne with garlic and herb bread. Although we could go for the buffalo mozzarella with tomato, fresh rocket and basil pesto followed by the baked mac and cheese.

Edinburgh offers

In Edinburgh, Toranj Persian restaurant will serve two main courses from their pre-theatre menu for £12. Your blogger has yet to visit but we hear good things about this Leopold Place basement restaurant.

If you feel pulled towards the bright lights of George Street, Le Monde is offering two courses from their market menu plus a coffee for £12 a head.

Sample dishes on the market menu include chorizo and Manchego croquettes with burnt pineapple and chilli ketchup followed by the braised chicken thigh with mash and a haggis and whisky sauce.

Burnt pineapple and chilli ketchup, eh? Very on trend and a lovely way to add flavour to dreary January.
