The 5pm Food blog is always optimistic.

Every morning, we wake up convinced that our day will involve eating well and we will probably also manage an iced glass or two of something tasty en route.

Regrettably, our optimism doesn't stretch quite so far as being confident that Scotland will win the imminent Six Nations tournament.

It's a view the bookies share with 38/1 available on the boys in the blue jerseys lifting the trophy in a few weeks time.

By contrast, England are odds-on while Ireland are the next best fancied team at about 9/2.

However, it's sport so you never know what will happen. I may have to eat my words.

Whatever the results, the 5pm Food blog intends to catch a few of the games on a big screen with something hot in our belly and a cold glass clutched in our paws.

If you have similar plans, here are a few suggestions for bars which can be booked via 5pm.

Book early

Bear in mind that demand will be high. We'll also point out that the offers and deals we mention below are independent of 5pm and subject to T&Cs which are beyond our control. Just sayin'.

Starting off in Glasgow, Finsbay Flatiron on Great Western Road is showing all the games and is offering a number of promos.

If Brian Hogg scores - he is involved in the Finsbay restaurants - then there may be free pints and there is also mention of £6 flatiron steaks if you have pre-booked and are wearing a team jersey of someone playing that day.

In the centre of town, Committee Room No 9 will be showing the games on their seven giant HD screens. Get together with mates and celebrate Scotland's many tries with a kilo of BBQ wings plus a bucket of eight beers for £35.

We'll also give a shout out to the Crafty Pig on Great Western Road. They have yet to post any specific plans for Six Nations coverage but they usually show all the big sporting events.

Over in Edinburgh, Angel's Share Bar and Restaurant will be showing the games on the big screens in the main bar and in the Devil's Cut function room.

Across the road in Ghillie Dhu, every minute of every match will be shown on their big screens. Main pic from Ghille Dhu Facebook shows the rapt crowd watching the match in the main bar.

We would advise that if you intend to visit any of the above on a match day that you book a table sharpish.
