We will get underway with the news that The Butterfly Lounge has hatched on Glasgow's Cochran Street.
'Eat, drink, dance' is the name of the game at this recently opened bar and diner.
And with cocktails from £4 and fishbowls from £7, The Butterfly Lounge will not be breaking many banks.
In between Woo Woos and Pink Gin Tinis, you could tuck into light bites such as nachos, garlic mushrooms or chicken tempura.
The main course options include the house burger, beef chilli, mac 'n' cheese and, of course, our old friend, fish and chips.
The latter is served breaded or battered and comes with minty mushy peas and a chip shop pickled onion. Yours for a tenner.
Meucci Italian for Haddington
Gazing into the future, Haddington will soon have a new Italian restaurant.
Hoping to open by Easter, Meucci is taking shape in the former procurator fiscal office on Court Street.
It is the latest venture from Franco Cucchi who already operates Cucina Amore and the Diner and Fry in North Berwick.
Back in Edinburgh, well, Portobello to be precise, the people behind the Boathouse bar and grill are planning on converting a set of public toilets into a restaurant.
All being well, the as yet un-named venture will open this summer. The main pic, taken from the Boathouse's Facebook, shows the exterior of the existing restaurant.
Upmarket seafood bar
Writing on the Porty Boathouse Facebook, the team said, 'I guess it's no secret that we were the successful bidders for the lease on the former public toilet facility at Joppa. We hope to open this summer and you'll be pleased to know that we will be honouring the terms of our lease and making our toilets available to the public, something that end of the promenade desperately needs.
'Beyond that, we have very exciting plans to transform the building into an upmarket seafood bar. Alongside traditional fish and chips, we will be offering a selection of fresh fish and seafood, cooked to order. We'll show you some drawings once they are finalised but I promise you it's going to very special.'
Suggestions for a name for the new project have been invited.
On the Rocks, Pearl on the Prom and The Wee Seafood Plaice have all been mooted.
Less happily, we must report that so have the following: Pish and Chips, The Rest Room and The Plop In Fish Bar.
