You don't need to be an analytical genius to realise that restaurants are going through a tough time right now.

When the current temporary ban is lifted, they will need our support or a lot of them won't be around come 2021.

Having made the most of the opportunity to meet friends in Covid-secure restaurants over the last few weeks, this blogger is feeling the pinch as we look at the recently cancelled bookings in our social diary.

Of course, restaurateurs are a resourceful bunch. Just look at how quickly the vast majority adapted their premises and working processes to cope with the current situation.

And, as in lockdown, many are keeping their businesses going and keeping their staff on the books by pivoting towards takeaway and delivery meals.

Temporarily, we may not be able to enjoy the buzzy atmosphere of a happy restaurant but we can enjoy restaurant-style food at home.

One operator who has not let Covid crush his ambitions is Dean Banks at Haar restaurant in St Andrews.

This year, the MasterChef finalist has been running his Haar at Home operation and his take on fine dining to your door has proved very popular.

If you like the sound of lobster linguini or a 32-day aged grass-fed rib-eye steak with black garlic butter then take a look at this Big Deal from Haar at Home.
