How Not To Cook Book

As part of the Edinburgh Art Festival taking place in August, the Collective Gallery are hosting an exhibition titled ‘The How Not To Cook Book- Lessons learned the hard way’.

It’s a limited edition book and art project by Aleksandra Mir who collected a hundred tales of great cooking disasters.

We’ve all been there. On a very early date with my girlfriend, I made a tom yum soup that contained so much chilli it gave her tinnitus. On another occasion, friends came around for a dinner of Cajun blackened salmon. Again, I was a little too enthusiastic with the chilli powder and when I put the fish in the pan it started belching choking black smoke. We had to evacuate the flat.

Anyone else care to confess to cooking cock-ups?
