British food is now the most popular cuisine when eating out

The blog put on its mystic Meg turban and tried to predict what 2011 might hold in store for the restaurant industry a couple of weeks back.

Apparently, British cuisine has over taken both Chinese and Indian food when it comes to eating out in the UK. Who’d a thunk it?

This hasn’t stopped one of Edinburgh’s French restaurateurs from expanding his operations.

Jean Michel Gauffre, the recent star of Gordon Ramsay’s Best Restaurants, has knocked his L’Artichaut veggie restaurant on the head and, last weekend, he re-opened the Eyre Place premises as another branch of La Garrigue.

Monsieur Gauffre’s Old Town restaurant may not have won his heat of the TV show but this hasn’t stopped lots of lovely new customers from flocking to La Garrigue.

The new branch of should help cope with the demand for his hearty Languedoc dishes.
