The blog was saddened to read of the recent death of Glasgow restaurateur Allan Mawn.

The owner of Pintxo, Velvet Elvis and, most recently, The Criterion, all on Dumbarton Road, Mawn had long been a lively figure on Glasgow’s restaurant scene.

You didn’t have to meet Allan too many times for him to leave a warm and lasting impression. Friendly, enthusiastic and keen to share his passions, especially wine, he will be sorely missed.
