Monte Carlo Rally 2011

[][1]
The Monte Carlo Rally started from Glasgow in 1955

If you have petrolhead inclinations then you might want to head over to Glasgow’s Blythswood Square next Thursday. On the 27th January, The Monte Carlo Rally will celebrate its 100th anniversary by returning to the former Royal Scottish Automobile Club, the starting point for the race in 1955.

The building is now the  Blythswood Square Hotel, a 5pm member. You can check their dinearound deals here and their spa deals here. It’s a beautiful building and you can read a little more about its history here.

On the day, 50 cars will drive in convoy from George Square to Blythswood Square at 4pm and will park ready for start of Rally. The Rally will start at 6.30pm, from a starting ramp opposite the front door of Blythswood Square hotel. The cars will set off at one minute intervals and each driver will give a short interview which will be played over loud speakers to the crowd.

Following the main event, there will be another vintage Rally leaving from the hotel called the Blythswood Heritage Run.
