The leaves are already beginning to turn which must mean that autumn, the harvest and Scottish Food Fortnight are all on the horizon.

Neil Forbes, Chef of the Year at the Scottish Restaurant Awards, is celebrating the seasons with a Harvest Supper at Cafe St Honoré on Tuesday 6 September.

Part of the Scottish Food Fortnight series of events, the supper will consist of a four course menu made using locally produced ingredients. Each course will be matched with a beer from Edinburgh’s Innis and Gunn company.

‘Scottish Food Fortnight is a great showcase for Scotland’s natural larder at the best time of year,’ says Forbes. ‘It’s shooting season, apples are falling from the trees and it’s time to bring the crops in.  The menu I’ve created lets the ingredients speak for themselves and I can think of nothing nicer than a Scottish beer to wash it all down with.’

Diners can expect to sample grass-fed rose veal, hand-dived west coast scallops, Borders roe deer and a Bramley apple pudding, as well as listening to short talks from the producers before each course.

Places cost £30 each.
