New Glasgow bar and kitchen

Horton's Bar and Kitchen is now open on West George Street

Horton’s Bar and Kitchen is a new venture which opened its doors this weekend on West George Street in Glasgow.

Formerly Frankenstein’s, the building’s latest incarnation is a sleek contemporary bar with a classic pub grub menu.

Typical dishes include whole baked camembert; fish ‘n’ chips; gourmet burgers; pots of mussels and 21 day aged sirloin steaks.

The desserts are rather fantoosh. Think cheesecake with honeycomb and grilled figs.

Horton’s has one of the Enomatic wine dispensers which keeps opened bottles in good nick for much longer than is usually possible. As a result, they can offer some twenty wines by the glass.

Prices start at £2.75 for a 125ml Italian glugger to £5.95 for more rarefied Reserva Rioja. If you really want to splash out then they also sell a Premier Cru Chablis and a posh Chateuaneuf Du Pape by the bottle with both weighing in at a little over £50 each.
