The Ardeonaig seen from Loch Tay

The Ardeonaig Hotel on the banks of Loch Tay has re-opened as part of the Adamo Hotel Group.

Formerly owned by the colourful  South African chef Pete Gottgens, the former 16th century coaching inn has been added to the existing Adamo portfolio of hotels in Stirling and Bridge of Allan.

Your blogger visited Ardeonaig when it was still owned by Gottgens and his South African roots were very much on show not just in the African-themed fittings and fixtures but also in the rondawel style cottages that complemented the 25 bedrooms in the main hotel.

The new owners have installed a new chef, Ross Miller, who is developing a menu of locally sourced dishes.Prior to Ardeonaig, Miller worked at the Champany Inn, Restaurant Martin Wishart and with the Roux brothers at Le Gavroche.
