The Calistoga team celebrate winning the Speciality Restaurant of the Year award 2010

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we know that Thanksgiving is a long way off but the shops have already started pushing Christmas so we don’t feel bad about pointing you towards Calistoga’s Thanksgiving dinner and wine fair event.

Based in Edinburgh city centre, Calistoga has long trumpeted Californian wine and food. A couple of years back, they scooped the Best Speciality Restaurant award at the Scottish Restaurant Awards on the basis of their innovative wine-selling policy.

Wine importers as well as a restaurant, they charge retail prices plus a fiver on their wine list in the restaurant.

They have always run popular Thanksgiving wine fairs and dinners and this year’s event, the fourth, looks set to be a corker.

The wine fair takes place just over the road from Calistoga on Thursday 24th November, 5.30pm-8.30pm. Over 50 wines will be available to taste.

Price for the fair alone is £10 per person or £20 per person including the two course Thanksgiving  buffet at the fair. Alternatively, you can pay £30 per person and tuck into the three course dinner in the restaurant after the fair.

Over a 130 people pitched up last year and tix are going quickly for this year’s bash.

Incidentally, nominations for this year’s Scottish Restaurant Awards close on Monday 3rd October and if you want to nominate your favourite restaurants then get clicking.
