It's truffle time

Mattia Camorani is the truffle master at Cucina

Traditionally, January is a month for belt-tightening but if you have already had enough of detoxing, diets and dragging yourself to the gym then you may want to investigate the Winter Black Truffle menu which begins a run at Cucina in Edinburgh’s Hotel Missoni this evening.

The restaurant scooped the Italian Restaurant of the Year Award at last year’s Scottish Restaurant Awards and, along with the Italian Caffe in Glasgow and Osteria in North Berwick, it is in the running to do the same again this year.

Head chef Mattia Camorani is no slouch when it comes to whipping up culinary masterpieces with a truffle and his new menu is pretty damn tempting.

Three courses plus coffee comes in at £50.

Beef bresaola with celeriac

or

Green beans and new potatoes salad, shallot dressing and parmesan

***

Ravioli with potato and chestnut, butter sauce and sage

or

Pan fried pork fillet, mashed potato and stewed carrots with shallots

*******

Rice pudding, banana and chocolate

***

Coffee and petit fours

If the truffle menu doesn’t appeal, there are plenty of other 5pm offers in place. Their pre-theatre menu offers two course for £16.
