Mirchi Mirchi in Leith

The interior of Assam's in Glasgow

Having successfully launched on Glasgow’s West Regent Street back in 2009, Assam’s Indian Restaurant has sauntered across the M8 and opened a new venture on Albert Place, part of Leith Walk.

Called Mirchi Mirchi, it’s an Indian deli, cafe and restaurant run by Assam and Osman Rachid. At the deli, customers will be able to buy pre-cooked pakora, chilled curries and assorted sundries so that they can reheat and eat at home.

The cafe is is more of a small plates style operation with Indian pizza and chilli wraps alongside spicy nibbles such as chilli garlic chicken.

The restaurant sticks to the tapas-theme but offers a more extended menu. They also do takeaway and offer BYOB for customers who eat in.

Details are sketchy at the moment but there appear to be plans for cookery demos or even a cookery school at some point in the future.

Your blogger doesn’t know if Mirchi Mirchi will be joining 5pm but you can certainly book into Assam’s in Glasgow through the 5pm restaurant site.

They are currently offering 5pm users a 25% discount on their a la carte menu.
