Old dog, new tricks

There's always a light on in the new Blue Dog cocktail bar

This blog usually concentrates on solids more than liquids but we’re partial to the odd snifter, especially at the end of the week. So, we were interested to learn that Blue Dog on Glasgow’s West George Street has just unveiled a five figure face lift.

The late night cocktail bar opened in 2003 and has been rather popular ever since. However, its owners were keen to keep it looking pristine and have just spent an £80k chunk of change as a sort of pre-10th birthday present.

The bar has been completely transformed and now boasts a contemporary New York-loft style interior with exposed brick feature walls, stylish wood paneling and re-upholstered banquette seating. A brand new stage space has also been created to facilitate the bar’s hugely successful jazz nights.

To help them celebrate, Blue Dog is asking their fans to suggest a new cocktail to go on their existing list.

To enter the Blue Dog cocktail competition, send your cocktail recipe to ashley@babygrandgroup.com by 30th March.  The best entry will be added to the cocktail menu and the winners will be treated to a cocktail master class at Blue Dog, as well as £100 worth of cocktails to enjoy afterwards.

Righty-ho, your blogger is off to start work on a few new recipes. I may be gone some time.
