Cock and bull stories are usually nonsense but this tale has a happy ending for one Aberdeenshire pub. The Cock and Bull at Balmedie in Aberdeenshire took home the Pub Grub of the Year award at the recent Scottish Restaurant Awards.

Serving dishes such as Cullen skink, haddock landed at Peterborough and beef from Buchan farms, the bar’s kitchen impressed the judges with both their dedication to local sourcing and their determination to polish the reputation of pub food.

In this clip, the owners tell us the secret of good bar food and set out their stall explaining why there should be no limits to what a skilled kitchen can do with pub food.
