Mother's Day and ironing boards: seldom a happy combination

If, like this blogger, you have ever made the mistake of buying your Mum some sort of domestic implement for Mother’s Day then you will appreciate the value of alternative suggestions.

In my defence, I was young and foolish. It was an unenlightened age when Benny Hill was still shown on terrestrial TV (there was no other kind) and the thought that a new ironing board may not have been at the top of her wish list didn’t even begin to cross the barren wastes of my mind.

Having learned from my mistakes, I now stick with the tried and tested flowers and/or meal combo. It may not come as a huge surprise to learn that 5pm can help with both.

We are currently running a Big Deal on a luxurious bouquet of roses and oriental lilies from the Memory Lane Flowers in Lenzie. You can see the full offer here.

Alternatively, you can browse all of the 5pm restaurants which are offering Mother’s Day menus from here.

For example, Mal in Glasgow are running a £25 three course Mother’s Day menu which includes a free gift for Ma while the ever popular Di Maggio’s restaurants are all running a two courser at £12.95.

Being fond of a flutter, I was delighted to see that the 110 Restaurant in Edinburgh’s Genting Club casino is offering a Mamma Mia Mother’s Day menu which includes a £5 single bet and bar drink as well as a two course Sunday roast dinner at £15.95 per head.

A roast dinner, a drink and a punt on the tables, the perfect Mother’s Day.
