It’s all hands on deck at the Sheraton Grand in Edinburgh as the hotel relaunches after a massive refurbishment.
The aim is to make the Edinburgh hotel the flagship outlet for the global chain.
As part of the refit, the hotel has opened a new all day bar and restaurant called One Square.
It has set out its stall as being a ‘British take on the classic grand cafe’.
This means a locally sourced menu that ranges from breakfast rolls filled with Stornoway black pudding to beef cheeks slow cooked in Leith claret, seafood platters made with Scottish shellfish and daily specials like the free range duck pie from St Brides.
A separate pudding menu features rather intriguing options such as sticky toffee pudding with popcorn ice cream or apple upside down cake made with Thistly Cross cider cream.
The bar majors on gin with over forty different varieties ready to be sampled. Scottish gins such as Carounn, Hendrick’s and Blackwoods are well represented.
Just to prove how dedicated they are to the spirit, the bar even has three different types of tonic to decide between. Whether you prefer your G&T to come with Schweppes, Fever Tree or Fentiman’s, One Square can provide.
