Final countdown to Taste of Edinburgh

Valentine Warner will be popping his Taste of Edinburgh cherry this weekend

Taste of Edinburgh’s organisers have just announced that Valentine Warner will open the culinary festival on The Meadows as it launches for the 6th time this Friday.

Something of a heart throb for many women, Warner is a familiar face from appearances on What to Eat Now and The Great British Food Revival. The tousled-haired scamp could also be held accountable for making ‘nomnom’ a semi-acceptable synonym for ‘tasty’.

Promising to fire up his Weber BBQ on The Meadows, Warner commented that ‘Come rain or shine, I’m looking forward to my demo on using the great outdoor grill to show that the capabilities of the BBQ can far extend blackened chicken and sausages with a curiously raw centre.’

Valentine will join a line-up of the biggest names from the UK’s food and drink industry including Masterchef TV favourite Loyd Grossman, Michelin star talent Jeff Galvin, Gordon Ramsey protégé Jason Atherton and Channel 4’s culinary duo, The Fabulous Baker Brothers.

Scotland’s very own Michael Smith from The Three Chimney’s and the Michelin star Peat Inn’s Geoffrey Smeddle will also make a special appearance while master patissier of Cake Boy, Eric Lanlard will show guests with a sweet tooth how to perfect the art of home baking.

Chefs from all over Scotland will be serving signature dishes from their Taste of Edinburgh field kitchens. Among the restaurants represented are 5pm members Cucina at Hotel Missoni; Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery and Kama Sutra.
