Galvin Festival of Food and Drink

[][1]
Edinburgh Castle and The Caledonian, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel: two Edinburgh landmarks

It’s all go at The Caledonian, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel, in Edinburgh. A couple of weeks back, we told you how pleased we were to welcome the hotel’s Peacock Alley, Galvin Brasserie de Luxe and Pompadour by Galvin restaurants to the 5pm site.

The new food and drink outlets are overseen by chefs Chris and Jeff Galvin. Between them, the two run seven restaurants in London and Edinburgh, many of them with Michelin stars. In Edinburgh, their restaurants are run by Executive Chef Craig Sandle who executes the brothers’ vision on a day-to-day basis.

As of Monday, there are new ways to sample the changes which the brothers have brought to The Caley’s eating and drinking outlets.

Galvin Festival

Next week sees the launch of the Galvin Festival of Food and Drink. A week-long celebration of the finest French cuisine, the event is a showcase for the Galvins’ seven restaurants.

From Monday, Galvin Brasserie de Luxe in The Caley will be featuring the Galvin Menu Classic. Think of it as a sort of Greatest Hits from their seven restaurants. Or as they put it, a showcase of their love for all things Gallic and Gaelic. Available at lunch and dinner, the Galvin Menu Classic includes a glass of Pommery Champagne and is priced at £22.50 for two courses or £26.50 for three courses. View Menu

Scottish masterclass

As well as numerous events in London, there will be a culinary masterclass with Craig Sandle in Edinburgh’s Pompadour by Galvin on Sunday 19th of May. Guests will be welcomed with a glass of Champagne in the Pompadour Salon at 11am by Craig and Head Sommelier, Peter.

This will be followed by a visit to the kitchen where Craig will demonstrate his signature dish of warm salad of roasted langoustine, Glamis asparagus and confit duck egg yolk.

Peter will be on hand to talk about suitable wine pairings. Guests will then be taken to the Brasserie to enjoy Sunday lunch.

This exclusive event is for a maximum of twelve people. The price, which includes Champagne on arrival, Craig’s masterclass, three course Sunday lunch in the Brasserie with an aperitif maison on arrival is £45.00 per person; wine is charged separately.
