Street food feastival in Glasgow

[][1]
Street food from the Hanoi Bike Shop is one of the attractions

The 5pm Restaurants blog is enjoying the unusual weather but it is murdering our will to anything productive at the stove.

Essentially, it’s too hot and I’m too soft to cook in this heat.

Fortunately, there is a solution.

Street food

The Kiltr social network is running its first Street Food Feastival in Glasgow this weekend.

Taking place at the Barras Art and Design Centre (BAAD) on Saturday and Sunday, it’s a pop-up street food festival sound tracked by some of Glasgow’s hottest DJing talent.

Between 4pm and 11pm, there will be pop-up food stalls from the kitchen crews at:

The Finnieston – expect great seafood dishes

The Hanoi Bike Shop – this Vietnamese joint was one of the finalists in the Oriental section of the Scottish Restaurant Awards

Stravaigin – local produce & global flavours are the name of the game from this popular West End fave

Kimchi Cult – look for Korean-Style fast food from this London-based crew

Babu Bombay Street Kitchen – Indian street food is the speciality here

Babylon Roots Kitchen will be dishing up Caribbean style celebrations

Smokey and the Bandit will be selling a selection of smoked favourites

The Chip Wine Club will be mixing the cocktails and pouring the craft beers

The Dear Green Coffee Roasters stall will be brewing some top coffees

Fab DJs

Harri, David Barbarossa, Andrew Divine, Pro Vinylist Karim, Esa, Ewan Chambers and Andy from Racket Racket will be supplying the sounds.

In addition to them, super-talented local designer, Aimee Kent will also have a pop-up eco-fashion lifestyle and clothing range on offer at the events too.

Free entry

The event is totally free to get in and we are promised that the prices of food and drink will reflect the street festival vibe. It’s a family friendly affair too – children aged fifteen and under are more than welcome to join in the fun till 10pm.

The event will run again on the weekend of 17/18 August.
