Kids eat free on school summer holiday Sundays

[][1]
Families are welcome at Galvin Brasserie de Luxe.

The 5pm Dining blog is reliably informed that the school holidays start soon. Doubtless this will be a source of great joy for the young people and possibly a source of some consternation for their loving parents.

Happily, Galvin Brasserie de Luxe in Edinburgh’s Caledonian Hotel is aiming to make the school holidays go a little easier on the bank account by offering free meals to children aged ten and under every Sunday from 6th July. The promotion will run until the end of the school holidays.

The Brasserie prides itself on being family-friendly and offers a children’s selection menu of fresh food that swerves the typical children’s menu staples.

Nutritious options

Craig Sandle, executive chef, commented ‘I’m a father of two young girls and I want them to have a nutritious option when they eat out. But I’m also realistic about what they actually will eat. We’ve really struck a balance here with our menu at the Brasserie. It’s essentially food from our a la carte menu, tailored to younger taste buds.’

Smaller diners can expect to see dishes like: smoked salmon, petit salad and granary toast; breast of chicken with mashed potato, swede and carrot; and apple tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream.

Live jazz

Sunday afternoons at Galvin Brasserie de Luxe are always bustling with a broad mix of diners enjoying live jazz and a special Sunday Lunch menu that includes roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.
