The 5pm Dining blog was at Scotch whisky bar in The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh last night for the launch of a new City Edition bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

The Edinburgh Edition bottle and its stylish packaging are decorated with images of the capital’s most recognisable landmarks from the Castle to the Scott Monument via the distinctive clock tower of The Balmoral.

We’ll blog again with more info when the whisky goes on sale in June.

In the meantime, we’ll point whisky lovers in the direction of the masterclasses which run in Scotch bar each month. Each masterclass focuses on one distillery and looks at its history and heritage as well as sampling several of their whiskies.

The next one has Bruichladdich in the spotlight. The masterclass is on Thursday 28th May. It starts at 7.30pm and costs £30 per person.
