New Edinburgh and Glasgow restaurants: The Killer Restaurant, Paesano and GoGlasgow

Glasgow’s GoGrill: part of GoGlasgow Urban Hotel.

Readers with absurdly long memories, not to mention far too much time on their hands, may recall that, back in February, the 5pm Dining blog mentioned The Killer Restaurant, a new Indian which seemed to be taking shape in Edinburgh’s Tollcross.

All being well, it should open officially on Friday. The restaurant takes its name from the Killer Curry, a dish first served in sister restaurant The Kismot.

As the name suggests, it’s hot. So hot that it has actually hospitalised two people. We suspect that The Killer Restaurant may have the stag party market sewn up.

Neapolitan pizzeria

Thanks to STV’s Glasgow city app, we can also tell you that Glasgow’s Miller Street will shortly see a new Italian.

Paesano promises to be a Neapolitan style pizzeria. It is run by the same team who have The Italian Caffe and The Italian Kitchen in the Merchant City. Both are 5pm members.

Staying in Glasgow, we would also like to welcome GoGrill to the 5pm Dining fold.

Josper oven

The Kinning Park restaurant is part of the new GoGlasgow Urban Hotel on Paisley Road West. The hotel is the latest venture from Crerar Hotels, which make regular and very popular appearances on 5pm Big Deal.

From Stornoway black pudding to Tarbert scallops, Scottish ingredients are very much to the fore on the menu.

The grill section sounds good. All the steaks are hung on the bone for seven days and then dry-aged for a further four weeks. Like all the most fashionable steaks these days, they are cooked in a charcoal-fuelled Josper oven.
