Tempus Grand Central's new menu is the perfect winter treat

If the walls in Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel could talk you would probably want to pull up with a cup of tea and listen for a few hours.

The landmark hotel has hosted guests such as JFK, Frank Sinatra, Carey Grant and Winston Churchill, and John Logie Baird transmitted the first ever television signal on the hotel’s fourth floor in 1927.

Nowadays the hotel retains its Old Hollywood glamour while offering a stylish, contemporary environment for its guests.

Tempus Grand Central

Despite its plush decor and imposing surroundings of pillars, arched windows and high ceilings, Grand Central Hotel’s Tempus restaurant has a relaxed ambience.

Their menu is made up of modern Scottish dishes created using locally sourced, seasonal produce.

Tempus Grand Central invited us along to try their new menu. This is what we dined on:

New winter menu

We started with a glass of Sangiovese.

Starters

Then we began with the starters. Lentil and bacon soup for my dining companion. Cosy and warming for a winter night.

While I had the woodland mushroom bruschetta with truffle oil and micro herbs.

Mains

For the main course, my dining companion didn’t hold back. He went for the Scotch bavette steak and French fries with tomato and garlic butter. And with Tempus taking particular pride in their Scottish steak selection, why not?

I went for the vegetarian main. Rigatoni with heirloom tomato, garlic, chilli, basil, rocket, and lemon olive oil.

Desserts

My dining companion is the person who always orders the cheese as dessert.

Not me. The chilly night had sticky toffee pudding written all over it.

Stodgy, sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal
