Have you heard about Bothwell's new Chinese restaurant?

The Hamilton Road venture opens on Thursday 21st February.

Operated by the same team that runs Lychee Oriental in Glasgow city centre, the new restaurant is called Shanghai Teahouse.

The owners have described the style of food as 'Asian fusion and Chinese' and 'contemporary Chinese'.

They also mention 'good cocktails' and 'good tea'. 'Freshly cooked' and 'authentic' also do the job for us along with 'modern and luxurious surroundings'.

Guests who have attended preview nights have described the dishes as 'fantastic', 'delicious' and 'awesome'.

Which is about as good as you could wish for when opening a new restaurant.

At the time of writing, Shanghai Teahouse has yet to release all the details about their menus.

However, we note that in addition to the à la carte, there will also be a set menu and a gluten-free menu.

Dim sum and sharing plates

Sharing plates and dim sum will be features but we will bring you more concrete menu details as we get them.

If Shanghai Teahouse does anything like as well as its city centre sibling then it looks set for success.

Opened on Mitchell Street in 2013, the Cantonese food produced by Chef Jimmy Lee at Lychee Oriental has won plenty of admirers. Not to mention awards.

Stirring up an appetite

It has certainly stirred up an appetite among 5pm customers. More than 500 of you have given it a whopping combined score of 4.4/5.

Comedian Jack Whitehall is also a fan. He visited while doing a two night run at the Armadillo in 2017.

If you can't wait until Shanghai Teahouse opens at noon on Thursday, you could always book into Lychee Oriental via 5pm.

A two course lunch for £11.90 goes a long way towards floating our boat.

Once the excitement of the launch settles, we'll be back with more info on Shanghai Teahouse.

And until then, we wish them a smooth launch weekend.
