A couple of weeks back, we blogged about Steak Edinburgh, the new steakhouse which was limbering up to open in the former pool room at No 12 Picardy Place in Edinburgh.

It now looks to be throwing open its doors this Thursday. The 100 cover restaurant will be open from brunch to dinner and serving everything from sharing plates to classic Beef Wellingtons via a late night mini-menu and a head to toe beef tasting menu.

The decor is described as being both rustic and industrial while one of the restaurant’s talking points seems likely to be the King and Queen butchers block sharing tables.

No. 12 Picardy Place has already made a name for itself on the food front with Restaurant Mark Greenaway nominated as a finalist in the Most Innovative category of the Scottish Restaurant Awards which will be held in Glasgow at the end of February.
