Constanzo's restaurant still going strong in new premises

After trading for many years on Buchanan Street, The Caprese has relocated to Woodside Terrace in the premises that once housed Nick Nairn’s old joint.

Owner Costanzo Cacace promises the same family atmosphere and trad Italian recipes that sustained his business for 26 years in its previous location.

The Caprese seems to have been one of those restaurants which acted like celeb magnets. Lauren Bacall, Rupert Everett, Simon Callow and Alice Cooper have all dined there although regrettably not on the same night. The Evening Times has all the details here.

Although not a new opening, The Caprese’s longevity in a city which has no shortage of Italian restaurants underlines Glasgow’s love of Italian food.

Big names such as Carluccio’s and Jamie’s along with large scale operations such as Pesto have all opened in the city within recent memory as well as more bijou outfits like 5pm member Verona.

One of the more recent openings has been Little SoHo in Jordanhill. It’s the newly arrived little brother of the city centre SoHo pizzeria.

Writing in The Herald, Ron MacKenna has a mixed review of Carluccio’s here.

As ever, 5pm has a large range of Italian restaurants in Glasgow which are promoting special offers. You can find them here.

Incidentally, you might want to check out Barolo Grill.

We’ve blogged about it a fair bit but it has been nominated for the Newcomer of the Year slot at the Scottish Restaurant Awards should you need any more incentive to visit.

They are currently running a £19.95 two course dine and skate deal.
