First up, we were tickled by the latest cocktails from The Dam, the new Merchant City bar we blogged about here.

Marking the fact that the singer songwriter Tom Walker, pictured above, plays the Barrowlands tomorrow (Fri 26th April), The Dam's bar tenders have created a cocktail called Just You and I(RN BRU) – the OG Ginger Spritz.

Raised in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth, Mr Walker is apparently a fan of the Bru.

Bearing this in mind, The Dam's mixologists have pinched and twisted the title of his song, Just You and I, for a punchy sounding cocktail that features Arbikie’s Kirsty’s Gin, sparkling Sauvignon wine, topped with IRN-BRU and served in a ginger tinnie with a purple-flowered thistle rose garnish.

We also liked the idea of their Dam’ Take Me On Tour – a twist on a classic Old Fashioned.

Made with Monkey Shoulder whisky, bitters and a sweet IRN-BRU syrup, the drink is garnished with a Tom Walker-esque Polaroid picture of whoever ordered it.

Inspired by the fact that Tom used to be a photo booth operator at weddings, the inventive mixologists will stir your cocktail, offer you up a beanie hat prop and then snap your picture on a Polaroid camera.

They will then deploy their Sharpie skills to give your pictured fizog a Walker-esque beard.

The Polaroid will then be pegged to your drink.

Cheesy idea? Certainly. But it made us laugh.

Macsorley's to re-open

In other news, rumours reach our ears that Macsorley's music bar on Jamaica Street is to re-open under new management soon.

It closed unexpectedly late last year. The locked doors came as something of a surprise as the bar had recently had a big bucks makeover.

They are currently advertising for staff and performers.

Book sultan's via 5pm Dining

Last but not least, say a big 'Howdie!' to Sultan's on Great Western Road.

Opened in December last year, it is an Indian/Pakistani restaurant serving home-style food.

It is BYOB and bookable via 5pm Dining.

They have a pretty sweet offer for customers who book via 5pm: a 30% discount on the a la Carte menu.

What are you waiting for?
